Northwest Wine Radio

Wine Should be Fun! Northwest Wine Radio is a weekly, hour-long show broadcast on radio stations across the Pacific Northwest. Not your typical wine show, Northwest Wine Radio features interviews with the winemakers, brewers, distillers, and cider makers to get the fun stories behind the bottle. No technical talking here; we're sharing real stories about the real people in the industry. Grab a glass of your favorite and tune in for fun stories, food pairing suggestions, news about upcoming events...all without the attitude! Host Brian Calvert and his team present a different kind of wine show: Light, fun, informal, yet informative and relevant to anyone who drinks local and supports local producers. Again, this show celebrates an entire industry of producers who make fantastic products right here in our own backyard. More information: NorthwestWineRadio.com

(2017)  Setting up a wine shop in the heart of Eugene...known for it's craft brewing...is a big enough challenge.  But admitting you're a Beaver in Duck Country?  You better get over the rivalry quickly, because the man behind Territorial Vineyards & Wine Co. in Eugene has a fun story, and some really good wine!

Then we head east over the mountains, the the beautiful city of Bend, where Atlas Cider Company calls home.   And we don't leave anyone out this week; our friend Eric Radovich of the Washington Beer Commission stops by with information about the perfect event to kick-off the holiday season!

All this, plus Master of Wine Bob Betz of Betz Family Winery stops by to answer our wine questions, Justin Stiefel of Heritage Distilling Company mixes-up our "Drink of the Week." and Chef Kathy Casey joins us with a fun food pairing featuring wine, craft beer, and spirits!

(2017) Why would a winemaker from France choose to move to the Pacific Northwest?  We ask that very question to the man behind Domaine Divio of Newberg!  And his answer, and accent, are both certainly charming.

We also visit with a man who has a French name, but is all West Coast!  The couple behind Auclair Winery join us to talk about how his passion for wine making at home turned the corner into a full-fledged operation.  And finally, we're going to school for some spirits!  A first-ever event at Bothell, Washington's historic Anderson School will first some really great local spirits.  Don't worry, in this case, you won't get sent to the principal's office for drinking!

(2017) Wine made in the Pacific Northwest has actually been inspired by many other parts of the globe.  Case in point, young winemaker Andrew Januik of Andrew Januik Wines just got back from another harvest in South America, and he shares with us how that experience will be evident in future bottles of his wine.

We also talk about the trouble some California winemakers had this past harvest because it got so hot down south over the summer.  Plus, we meet the guys at Summit To Sound Brewing out of Snohomish.  It's another amazing story of how being in the right place, at the right time, can yield some really good beer!
